From Paris, With Love: La Rose Vivier

Roger Vivier Shoes Shopping

Roger Vivier unveiled LA ROSE VIVIER at Paris fashion week earlier in the season. Inspired by the timeless elegance and duality of the rose, the collection is a powerful emblem of femininity, beauty and natural artistry with the bloom embodying the essencce of the Roger Vivier woman - delicate yet bold, romanic yet strong.

With this collection, Creative Director Gherardo Felloni continues the Maison’s legacy of blending heritage with contemporaneity, paying homage to the floral motif that has graced Roger Vivier’s designs since the 1940s. The rose has been a recurring decorative detail in Monsieur Vivier’s creations, from the collaboration with milliner Suzanne Rémy in 1943-44, to his work in the 1950s, and in his design of the Talon Épine, a unique stiletto with a pointed thorn. This season, the bloom takes centre stage once again, as Gherardo Felloni revisits the verge of the Talon Épine while also developing his very own take on the floral motif: a sculpted metal bud, a twisted leather knot, spiralling organza strips; all applied on pumps, sandals, ballerinas, gilets, bags, hats and jewellery.

The Rose Vivier mule, a highlight in this season’s collection, is an homage to a design from 1965, where a red satin rose adorned the squared toe of a white cotton shoe. Made of satin, the shoe now features a sculptural metal rose crafted with jewellery techniques. Like a real bloom, it is composed of multiple layers: a dense central bud surrounded by delicately spiralling petals, created using the lost-wax casting method. For a matching set, the Rose Vivier clutch is a study in geometric elegance. Its structured rectangular body is juxtaposed with a circular thorn-decorated handle that can be fully retracted, transforming the bag into a minimalist, satin-covered box with precise, sharp angles. Available in vibrant hues of pink, green, orange, and purple, the Rose Vivier designs brilliantly reflect the Maison’s signature joie de vivre.

Alongside the collection’s rose-inspired designs, the presentation includes new seasonal iterations of some of the Maison’s most iconic creations. The Belle Vivier bag and slingback, presented among live savoir-faire demonstrations from the Maison’s artisans, feature bold new colour combinations of orange, violet, pink, and burgundy as well as a striking leopard print on pony calfskin inspired by the archives. A new, higher version of the Maison’s Virgule heel, also drawn from archival designs, graces pumps and slingbacks with asymmetrical cuts, delicate cut-outs, leather straps and mini buckles. The Jewel Heel with its spherical signature, first designed by Roger Vivier in 1955 and famously loved by Marlene Dietrich, is presented this season on both sandals and pumps, enhancing their allure with a touch of timeless glamour.
