What’s On: Claridge’s Restaurant Unveils New Menu
Entering Claridge’s Restaurant, with its mosaic-tile flooring and gleaming marble, feels as though you are stepping into a truly English institution.
Frequented by Queen Victoria, Winston Churchill and Princess Diana, the hotel has become an international name that celebrates British creatives. It includes suites designed by David Linley, stained-glass mirrors by Annie Morris and menus by the likes of Gordon Ramsay and Simon Rogan.
The primary restaurant at Brook Street is no different. Slipping into one of its decadent green leather banquettes, positioned underneath the recently uncovered rooftop skylights originally designed by British interior designer Guy Oliver, the new menu continues the hotel’s celebration of Britishness. Dedicated to the best seasonal produce from local suppliers, guests can expect quintessentially British home-comfort dishes.
Alongside the orders of signature black truffle crumpets and Parker House loaf, head chef Ed Dutton presents Claridge’s fish pie with Scottish langoustine, cod, salmon, smoked haddock and seasonal greens. Other seafood dishes include grilled or meunière Dover sole and lobster spaghetti with roasted tomatoes and peppers. For those who enjoy a succulent cut of beef, the menu also features tomahawk of Herefordshire steak with french fries, girolles and béarnaise sauce, for two.
Dessert remains an indulgent affair with vanilla mille-feuille and chocolate soufflé tart under the expertise of the Claridge’s Restaurant pastry team, as well as a new cheeseboard featuring all-British cheeses, sourced from Nottinghamshire to St Andrews and paired with plum crackers and seasonal chutney.
The new menu at Claridge’s Restaurant is available now. Served Monday to Saturday, 12-2.30pm and 5.30-9pm, and Sunday, 12.30-5pm, Claridge’s, Brook Street, London, W1K 4HR
